AI: The Gateway Drug
I am just going to talk about how AI companies are using AI as a drug, patterns and dark patterns.
Finally, it is done. Built and perfected my site, with the assistance of AI. My dream deatures, everything that I have ever wanted my blog to be, is now available and I can use it.
At what cost, though?
AI as a drug
Sam Altman wants to make intelligence available on tap. Wants to meter and regulate our usage. First you give freebies, then you start charging a little more. Slowly but surely. Tons of suits and execs made multi step plans about this.
The first step was to gain our trust. That whole story about Sam Altman being fired from running OpenAI (only thing they want open is our wallets, tbh) was an absolute PR stunt, designed to gain our sympathy and trust so we would then start rooting for the underdog.
Second step is to give us the real dosage. Whipping up applications in hours instead of banging your head against the keyboard for months upon months on end. Anyone can be tempted, anyone can fall for the magic? I would know, I was skeptic at first but then the speed increase was so delicious I couldn’t not use it. Temptation hits worse than cigarettes. I spent an entire weekend vibe coding away.
This week I started noticing the third step. They are taking away our toys.

The third step is where the company starts noticing our reliance, it starts gradually exploiting it. Nothing bad at first, have what you want fast. Oh you want faster? Sorry that will cost you extra. This is quite literally where they started. I started checking reddit to see what were people saying. Apparently Claude squeezed the limits so hard people started complaining. I tried it myself to give this blahg one single feature, and that led to the 5 hour session limit being immediately zero percent.
That is insane.
I took it to Reddit to see what people were experiencing. It was split between the $200 users saying everything is fine and we are hallucinating things, and those on $20 plans saying they definitely cannot do much any longer. I also noticed that there was a huge PR campaign involved with some literal nobodies acting like nothing changed.
Everything is manipulated now, nothing is genuine.
Because of this, I started moving out of the algorithm already. Got rid of the brainrot scrolling sessions, Meta and co. analyzing and monetizing my every fart, no reels, no shorts, not even Youtube unless it is informative. I went full old fashion. Went with a nice app that takes RSS feeds, started on following news chronologically, as it was intended. I became sick and tired of all the narratives, all the attempts to push people into political thinking. I want to live my life simple, do what I can, learn what I cannot, don't let a machine decide what I should like or not.
I'm taking back my thinking. I'm not going to stay stupid just to let Sam Altman provide me intelligence on metered tap. Cogito ergo sum.
